i made a sock monkey today. i was inspired by bearskinrug.co.uk and by sockmonkeydrawer.com.
ems was sick all day so i sat inside with her. i really like her. i sewed for about 5 hours. not exaggerating.
soo tired. we watched junebug. sarah said it was cute, but i was really really dissapointed. it was depressing and slow and the end wasn't that good. :(
i called silas. i think he wants to get together to play music.
i didn't call nick. i don't think he wants to get together at all.
ems told me that i shouldn't hate on indy music. she has a point. so tonight i listened to the arcade fire: funeral. its a pretty ok album. i like the instrumentation, and the musicians are definitely savvy.

hmm
o, woeful existence!
were it not for my restless heart, i might find rest in the bosom of the girl that i love.
but it does not have to end so, doth it?
its just one of those things
you both see it coming
but its worse than you could imagine
like a trainwreck
slow down,
slow down
stop to think
slow down
rending ripping tearing
it hurts so bad
but dont throw this away
hold on tight
hold on
slow down
slow down!
open your eyes
hold on to this fragile existence
ems and i decided that i have add. it fits in with my life nicely. i wonder what the medicine makes you feel like.
we also spent an hour crying on each others shoulders. so emo :[

an introduction to my life
playlist set to shuffle. here goes.
1) Long Tall Sally- The Beatles, Live at the BBC
I like this song alot. I haven't listened through this album at all, 'cos i just got it. However, i really like this one and i'm excited its first. for a long time now, i've been meaning to cover it with my band.
2) Today- The Ponys, Celebration Castle
I have not listened to the ponys at all. in fact, i've never heard this song before. listening to it now, its not great, but not bad. it's growing on me a little, as it progresses. i guess maybe i'll try to listen to the ponys.
3) Perugia- Stephane Grappelli, Parisian Thoroughfair
Another one i havent heard. i got this album out of the library cos i like what stephane does with django in the cinquet du hot club du france, but never got around to it. its kinda slow and depressing. very minimal. a violin, a piano, and maybe a cello? theres a bit of a piano solo, and i like that more. The part with stephane grappelli playing is a bit too tragic.
4) Together- The Racontuers, Broken Boy Soldiers
This is the only song off of this album i've really listened to, and heres why: emily really likes it. overall, i don't really like the racontuers, or not nearly as much as the white stripes. this is one of the slower songs on the album, and has kind of an acoustic feel. the lyrics are cute. i guess i like this song.
5) Strange Design- Phish, Live Phish, Volume 12
i'm really psyched up about this song, cos i've had it floating around in my head for a few days. i got this album for my birthday four or five years ago, when i was a huge stoner. i spent my nights playing games on my 98 mac and listening to this. its really a beautiful song. i don't think that i've heard the studio version, but i have come to realize that phishs studio albums are really clean and well done. the song is nastalgic overall, but nice too.
6) Carouselambra- Led Zeppelin, In Through the Out Door
how about that? a led zeppelin song! where to start, though? in through the out door was the second zeppelin album i heard. that was not so great. the summer before my junior year, i found this and zep III on vinyl. i loved three, but i couldnt get into this. as far as this album goes, i wouldnt give it a listen unless you are really into zep. this is a pretty ok song, but i feel like if i werent into zeppelin, i wouldnt have the attention span. there are just too many songs that are far out, this being one. i'd even say that there is only one really good song on in through the out door- fool in the rain. it's nice and poppy, upbeat, exciting. it makes me lovesick, even. carouselambra kind of drags a bit. all ten and a half minutes of it. its being driven by john paul jones. you can tell cause its a lot more wierd and synthie than the previous albums
7) In My Life- The Beatles, Rubber Soul
Molly Radis sang this at our eighth grade graduation. she was really good. when she was singing it, these gross middle aged guys in front of me said that she was hot. i hope they were joking, but even so, it still makes me feel gross.
What a sappy song. i don't really have much to say about it except that rubber soul is really great, and i guess this song must be too.
8) Mighty Man- Mungo Jerry, In the Summertime
This one has memories with it too. i remember all last summer, and the winter/spring before that listening to this cd. first in the winter and spring with kirby, and then in the summer with dan. we spent a good 2 months getting stoned while listening to this album. its a pretty typical mungo jerry song, what with the banging piano blues and the kazoo, and the generally wierd ray dorset noises. this is a fun album though, no matter what. rockabilly all the way!
9) Communication Breakdown- Led Zeppelin, BBC Sessions
i hate to say it, but i'm a little bored at thirty seconds into the song. i think that i'm moving on from my led zeppelin craze. having listened to 3 gigabytes of live zep boots, i've heard much better live recordings than this, but its still in the top half of all of them. the solo is pretty ok. at least its fast paced
10) I'm in the Mood- John Lee Hooker, The Boogie Man
one of my favorite albums. one of my favorite songs off of this album. john lee hooker kicks fucking ass. hes great. i love him. the guitar work is incredible, the percussion is minimal (could be him tapping his foot). i love his minimal style that always conveys so much. his voice is really good, and fits perfectly.
